Appling, GA – Regina Veronica Ziemski Walsh, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and lifelong friend to so many, passed away at her home in Appling, GA, on September 14, 2025, at the age of 75.
Regina was born on January 22, 1950, in Passaic, NJ, to Stanley W. Ziemski and Agnes Ziemski (née Zurawski). She is survived by her older brother, Stanley J. Ziemski of Vero Beach, FL, and her identical twin sister, Irene A. Frazzano of Middletown, RI. She spent her childhood in Clifton, NJ, where she attended Public School Number Three Elementary, Christopher Columbus Middle School, and Clifton High School. She attended them with her sister and her cousin, Paulette Babeor. For Regina, her older brother Stan and his wife Judy were far more than just family; they were among her closest and most cherished friends, a sentiment that extended beautifully to include their wonderful children. Regina's heart was also full of love for her twin sister Irene and her late husband Arthur, whose family included three wonderful children whom Regina adored.
After high school, Regina pursued higher education at Glassboro State College, now known as Rowan University, earning a degree as an educator. While attending college, she met her future husband. Regina was deeply passionate about her teaching career, dedicating a large portion of her adult life to education, specializing in special education. Her love for teaching was rooted in a genuine devotion to children, and she found fulfillment in the classroom, believing every child possessed unique gifts. Above all, Regina was deeply devoted to empowering children to recognize and develop their unique strengths. She dedicated herself to fostering their confidence and providing the guidance and resources necessary for them to flourish and reach their fullest potential.
Though her marriage ultimately ended, it resulted in the birth of the five individuals who were the loves of Regina’s life: her children, Colleen Regina (John), Kathryn Agnes (Craig), Brian Patrick (Stephanie), John Clinton (Crystal), and Adam Michael (Nathalie). Regina devoted herself fully to ensuring that her children were raised in a loving home. Regina’s legacy continued through her children, all of whom went on to have their own children. These ten grandchildren were adored by Regina, who was affectionately known to them by the Polish term for grandmother, “Babcia”. Her grandchildren are Alex, Mattie, Jace, Teag, MacKenzie, Colton, Lilianne, Caroline, Rosalie, and Hudson. They were her pride and joy! She treasured every moment spent with her ever-growing family, finding deep joy and fulfillment as the circle of loved ones expanded over the years.
Raising five children on her own was often challenging, but she persevered through the help of family, friends, and active participation in her church communities. These communities spanned multiple locations where the family lived, including Aberdeen, MD; Browns Mills, NJ and Brick, NJ; and eventually Sebastian, FL, where her children graduated from high school. In all these places, Regina was known for treating the friends of her children as if they were her own family. Regina deeply valued and cherished the lifelong friendships she forged throughout her journey. Friends such as Gayle and Eddie Renner, Marilynn Baldwin, Sue and Rich Nyman, along with so many others, always brought a smile to her face. Maintaining those enduring connections was a continuous source of comfort and strength for her.
At the age of seventy, Regina moved from Sebastian, FL, to Appling, GA, residing in a home built on the property of her daughter, Kathryn or Kat. In Appling, she was supported by Kat, her son-in-law, Craig Johnson, and her grandchildren, Colton and Caroline, as well as a loving network of neighbors and friends. Her other children frequently came to visit, showering her with their constant support and unwavering love, making sure she always felt surrounded by the warmth of her family. It was amidst this caring community that she passed away.
Due to Regina’s boundless love for her widespread network of family and friends, her memorial cannot be confined to one single location or ceremony. A small remembrance will take place around the Thanksgiving holiday in Appling, GA, for family and friends. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life on Saturday December 13, 2025 in Passaic, NJ. A mass will take place at the Holy Rosary Church, whose history is significant to Regina’s family as it was built by her maternal grandfather, Jan Zurawski. This will be followed by an internment at St. Michael’s Cemetery, the final resting place of Regina’s parents, and a Repast Lunch at Wallington Exchange.
Celebration of Life in Passaic, NJ - December 13, 2025
In the Spring of 2026, the Walsh siblings are planning a memorial to take place in Sebastian, FL, in order to provide an opportunity for friends and loved ones in that area to honor Regina’s legacy. Information for the Florida remembrance will be provided at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Council for Exceptional Children, an organization dedicated to empowering educators, advocating for inclusive education, and providing resources for students with exceptionalities.
