Rev. Allen Westover

Augusta, GA – Reverand Allen Westover peacefully travelled to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Reverand Allen Dake Westover, 91, loving husband and friend of Gerry Westover, née O’Dell, for 64 years, father of Sharlene Booker, née Westover, Patrick Westover and Cassandra (Sandy) Doyal and their spouses Robert Booker, Randi Westover, née Prescott, and preceded in heavenly life by Bobby Doyal. Allen is the proud grandfather of Charity, Kaitlyn (Kayti), Jordan, Nicholas (Nick), Gabrielle (Gabby), and Krysta and a legacy of twelve spirited great grandchildren in Minnesota, Montana and Texas.

Allen is the last of his generation and was preceded to heaven by his parents, Archie Westover, Marie Westover, née Carey, and sisters Emily and Helen survived by her husband and Allen’s good friend Don Herbert.

Allen was a passionate believer and teacher of God’s word and was among the founding students of Rhema Bible Training College graduating in 1976 and ordained by the Assemblies of God in 1977. His calling was to the practical teaching of Gospel and the promise of an eternity through Jesus’ salvation. He and Gerry spent much of their lives proclaiming God’s love to friends, family and their brothers and sisters in Christ at camp meetings throughout the Southwest and at churches in Missouri, Texas and Georgia.

For his earthly vocation, Allen was a pioneer in computer operations having run the large computers that tracked missiles to space at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, at the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP), and later supported hospital operations at University Hospital in Augusta where he retired in 1994.

Allen loved playing and watching Golf and was often found with friends, family, and grandchildren swinging a club on the many beautiful courses in the Augusta area and the places he visited in his retirement.

A quiet and practical man, Papa was always willing to help his children with many household projects and was a friend to them as well as all of his grandchildren. He loved to offer practical advice to all of them on life and parenthood and proudly watched them grow into faithful women and men. He laughed when telling stories of his youth in Big Rapids, Michigan, his travels with his family chasing work with his father, his high school years living with five family members in a very small travel trailer in Deming, New Mexico, his early career wherever work could be found, and his many cars.
