Rev. Lloyd C. Greene

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Rev. Lloyd C. Greene, 99, husband of the late Hazel Dean Greene.

Rev. Greene lived a life marked by unwavering faith, service, and love for others. A proud U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard a carrier ship during World War II, he went on to faithfully pastor churches across Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia. For the last 28 years, he shepherded the congregation of New Heights Baptist Church, preaching until just weeks before his passing.

In addition to his ministry, Rev. Greene served his community as a dedicated U.S. Postal Service letter carrier for over two decades. Known for his kindness and generosity, he delighted in baking and sharing his creations with his beloved church family.

He was the last surviving member of the “Three Musketeers,” a cherished brotherhood of pastors that included Albert Stroup and Julius Turner. Rev. Greene’s legacy includes leading countless souls to Christ and officiating hundreds of weddings and funerals. He remained a devoted servant of God to the very end.

Family members include daughter: Faye Burton; sons: Scott Greene and wife Debbie, Tim Greene and wife Jana; daughter-in-law: Sandra Greene; 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to his wife of 70 years, Dean Greene, Rev. Greene was preceded in death by his parents: Willie and Verdie Greene; son: Michael Greene; son-in-law: Bobby Burton and daughter-in-law: Karen Greene.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 11:00A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son Funeral Directors with Pastors Jerry Wilson and Billy Lassister officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Greene, Doug Greene, Todd Greene, Cason Greene, Christian Greene, Brycen Patterson, and Caden Patterson.
