Richard Algie Burns

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, January 11, 2026, Mr. Richard Algie Burns, 54, was married for 26 years to his loving wife, Vastil Smith. He was a loving and caring man. He would try to help others whenever he could and was loved by his wife, children, and grandchildren tremendously.

Richard was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia. He was the son to the late Algie Burns and Patsy Lively. He was a graduate from Glen Hills High School and Augusta Technical College. He held a long, successful career in Property Maintenance and Management.

Richard is survived by family members, in addition to his wife, to include his two stepdaughters: Jessica Smith (Mascka Cain) and Jaqueline Smith( Bennefield); his son-in-laws: Richard Cain and Javarus Bennefield; his grandchildren: Deirius “Alex” Smith, Deitrich “Ruben” Smith, Violet Gould, Olivia Bennefield, Henry Bennefield, Morwena Cain, Peridot Cain, Wednesday Cain, Lavender Cain, Solomon Cain; his sister: Pamela Byers; his brother: Brian Blackwell; his mother Patsy Lively. He will be missed by friends and family.
