Rickey "Sarge" Mawby

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Master Sgt. (Ret.) Rickey Lee Mawby, 76, beloved husband of 50 years to Claudia Mawby.

Rickey Mawby, known affectionately as “Sarge,” proudly served his country for 23 years before retiring as a Master Sergeant from the United States Army. At home, he was the heart of his family — a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. In his spare time, Sarge poured his energy into restoring old cars, relaxing with his favorite television westerns, and transforming his home for every holiday, especially Christmas. With a heart full of kindness, Sarge never met a stranger and was always there for anyone who needed him.

In addition to his loving wife, Sarge is survived by children: Kelly Myers (Mike), Rickey Earl Mawby (Apryl), Rick Mawby, David Mawby, Sam Mawby; grandchildren: Kayla, Zack, Tylor, Devin, Alayna, Ryan, Jaida, Jesse, KC, Samantha, Shane; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters: Donna Dabbs, Linda Banks; brother: Tom Mawby; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wesley and Ellen Mawby; brother: Jim Mawby; and sister: Jackie Demmy.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.
