Born on July 2, 1940, Dr. Robert Eugene Leftwich, PhD passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024, due to covid complications. A Texas native, he grew up in Longmont, Colorado.

Robert attended Baylor University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1963. He continued his education obtaining a Master’s Degree at Northern Illinois University in 1970, and a Doctorate in Philosophy of Nursing Education in 1977 from Clayton University, St. Louis, Missouri.

Upon graduation, Robert worked as an oncology nurse at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas and taught at Governors State University. He was a respected and accomplished oncology nurse and teacher.

For many years Robert was known as a man of deep faith and a talented vocalist and church organist. Later in life he served as a full-time music director and organist before retiring in 2005 to Augusta, GA. He was a member of the Augusta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and a longtime fan of classical opera.

An Air Force Veteran, Robert was interred at Westover Memorial Park in a private ceremony.
