Augusta, GA – Robert William Moak, beloved husband of Nancy, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. Bob was 79 years old.
Bob was a native of West Point, MS. Bob was born to Anna Ruth Helms Moak and Johnny Moak on November 21st, 1944. He was a graduate of West Point High School and Mississippi State University (BA and MEd). Bob moved to Augusta, GA, in 1967 where he began his career as a teacher and coach for Richmond County Schools. He later worked for the Department of Army, Fort Gordon, Georgia, as an Education Specialist before retiring from the National Science Center as a Senior Project Coordinator.
An active member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, he was a member of the vestry several times, served as Junior and Senior Warden, and Chairman of several committees. He loved his Savior and growing spiritually with his church community.
A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Bob enjoyed sharing in the activities of his children and grandchildren. He was the biggest cheerleader of anything his wife enjoys. He loved spending time with his family, taking an annual trip to Fripp Island, SC, boating, hunting, and cheering on the Mississippi State Bulldogs where he was a longtime member of the Bulldog Club.
In addition to his wife Nancy to whom he was married for 55 years, he is survived by their children, Leslie Moak Maddox, Robert William Moak, Jr. (Ashley) and Laura Moak Redman (Ross). Bob was a grandfather to eight Garrett Maddox (Shannon), Anslee Moak, Paige Maddox Sartain (Daniel), Morgan Maddox, Molly Moak, Caroline Moak, Olivia Redman, and Grayson Redman and a great grandfather to one Silas Maddox.
A service honoring his life will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at St. Augustine’s at 11:00 am, located at 3321 Wheeler Road, with the Rev. Terri Degenhardt officiating. Visitation and reception honoring the family will be held immediately after the service in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Augustine’s Church in Bob’s memory.
