Augusta, GA- Mr. Robert W. Lamb, 66, husband of Mrs. Jane Colvin Lamb of Lincolnton, entered into rest on February 8, 2009 at his residence. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son chapel with Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. The family will receive friends after the memorial service. Honorary Pallbearers: Clyburn Davis, Bobby Meybohm, Ted Davis, Jimmy Garren, Bill Mallard, Gerald Baygents, Mike Cummings, Ray Lamb, Stephen Clyburn, Dan Weigle, E.G. Meybohm, Jet Beckum, Tom Newton, Richard Burrows, and Scott Ressequie.
Mr. Lamb was born in Wadley, GA on March 25, 1942 to the late 2nd Lt. Billy Joe Lamb and Eloise Warren Lamb Tarver. He graduated from Wadley High School and attended Georgia Tech before receiving a Bachelors Degree in Education from Georgia Southern University. He was a teacher and coach for a number of years before becoming an entrepreneur. He touched many lives and had a positive influence in his coaching capacities at Wadley, Greene Co., Commerce, and Evans, GA. Mr. Lamb owned and operated The Sir Shop, Statesboro, GA for 16years. While in Statesboro, he continued his love of coaching by serving as a volunteer coach for the Statesboro-Bulloch county Recreation Department for many years. After leaving Statesboro, he and his wife owned and operated The Huddle House Restaurant in Washington, GA for eight years. He moved to Augusta, GA and owned a construction company before retiring. Mr. Lamb was one of the original "Dirty Dozen" who is credited with bringing football back to Georgia Southern Universi
ty. He was a member of Augusta Country Club.
He is survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 43 1/2 years, 2 sons and daughters-in-law; Scott and Kristy Lamb of Warner Robins, GA, Chris and Kim Lamb of Kingsland, GA, 5 grandchildren; Lauren, Taylor, Jacob, Avery, and Rylee Lamb, stepfather Jimmy (Audrey) Tarver of Wadley, GA, 1 sister, Sue (Ronnie) Hayslip of Grovetown, GA, 1 brother Jim (Betty Rose) Tarver of Zephryhills, FL, and mother-in-law, Sara Colvin of Lincolnton, GA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a scholarship at GSU which helps future math teachers get their education. It was founded by Mr. Lamb in memory of his father who was killed in WWII and his father-in-law.
