Robert Leo Wood

Augusta, GA – Robert Leo Wood passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the comfort of family.

Robert was born in Rockford, Michigan, to Ralph Virgil Wood and Alvera Smith Wood, and was lovingly raised by Ruth Summers in Syracuse, Indiana. He was a lifelong learner whose academic accomplishments reflected both his intellect and determination. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1963, where he also met the love of his life, Judith Ann Vogel, whom he married on August 26, 1962. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Purdue in 1965. In 1974, he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law.

Robert built a successful career as Secretary of Roper Technologies, which eventually brought his family from Kankakee, Illinois, to Augusta, Georgia in 1987, where he and his wife, Judy, raised their son, David.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Wood; his son, David, and daughter-in-law, Jenny; his cherished grandchildren, Sam and Charlie; his brother-in-law, Harry Vogel, and wife, Tricia; and their children, Tom and Gretchen.

Bob had a deep love for feathered and furry friends, especially rescue dogs who always found a soft spot in his heart and home. He also enjoyed fishing and cheering on the Boston Red Sox through their World Series victories. "Here, here!"

Bob will be remembered for his sharp mind, quiet strength, loyalty to family, and compassionate heart. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

The family plans to celebrate his life with friends at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA in honor of Bob’s lifelong love of animals.
