Ruth Wadhwa

Ruth Marion Wadhwa, 74, passed away on June 8, 2024 after a courageous 18 month battle with lung cancer. Her family was at her bedside.

She was born March 6, 1950, in Johnson City, NY to Bert and Mabel Berry. She graduated from high school in Vestal, NY in 1968. She attended nursing school in Cambridge, NY where she earned her LPN. She was an OR nurse for several years in New York before moving to West Palm Beach, FL.

Ruth was a loving person who had a passion for God, her family, children, and animals. She once dreamed of being a veterinarian but decided to attend nursing school. After practicing nursing in NY for several years, she moved to West Palm Beach, FL where she met her husband, Perminder Wadhwa. They married on August 17, 1974 in Vestal, NY. Ruth and Perminder lived in Waukesha, Wisconsin from 1974 to 1979 where her daughters, Nina and Tania were born. They later moved to South Florida in the West Palm Beach area. They lived in South Florida for 28 years. She was an OR nurse for over 15 years and remembers those years fondly. Ruth was able to use her love of children while teaching for several years at a Montessori School. She later transitioned to home health nursing where she formed bonds with her patients, their families and her fellow caretakers. She enjoyed raising her family, traveling, and walks on the beach. She attended Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. In retirement, Ruth and Perminder moved to Salem, SC where she joined St. Andrew Catholic Parish. While in Keowee Key, they made lasting friendships and she picked up new hobbies like crocheting and pickle ball. She enjoyed traveling internationally with her husband and especially loved European architecture. They moved to Evans, GA in 2017 to live closer to two of their grandchildren. She loved watching her grandsons grow up and spending time with them. While in Evans, Ruth joined St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

She is predeceased by her parents, Bert and Mabel Berry and sister, Rose Marie Whittemore. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Perminder Wadhwa, daughters Nina (Tim) of Wesley Chapel, FL and step grandchildren Pete and Alyssa, Tania (Sam) and grandsons Elliott and Simon of Evans, GA.
