Sandra L. Carte

Augusta, GA - Mrs. Sandra L. Carte, 76, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. She was the loving wife of the late James Ronald Carte.

Sandra was born in Bentonia, Mississippi, and raised in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She was a former employee of Columbia County Water Works before later devoting her time to caring for and supporting her beloved husband, Ron.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula Watson, Natalie Lee (Phil), and Angela Hardwick; her grandchildren, John Emory Watson V (Zoe), Davis Watson, Philip Lee Jr., Thomas Lee, and Jacob T. Hutto; her great-grandchildren, John Emory Watson VI and Carter Watson; and her sister, Polly Johnston. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mabel Lungrin.

Sandra was a longtime and devoted member of Our Savior Episcopal Church, where she faithfully served in many roles throughout the years. She served as Senior Warden of the Vestry, Chairperson of the Parish Grounds Committee and the Parish Stewardship Campaign, and volunteered in both the parish office and the Byllesby Center. She especially treasured coffee time at church with her dear friends at “Table 2.”

Although small in stature — earning her the nickname “Mina” — Sandra had a strong spirit and a big personality.

She never met a stranger and loved spending time talking and laughing with family and friends. She often shared fond memories of traveling through Europe, especially Germany, with Ron.

In earlier years, Sandra rarely missed her grandchildren’s sporting events, recitals, and school programs. In later years, she found even greater joy in spending time with her great-grandchildren, who brought so much happiness to her life.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 6, 2026, at Our Savior Episcopal Church, 4227 Columbia Road, Augusta, Georgia 30907. The family will receive friends following the service.
