Sgt. Mike Logue

Sergeant John Michael “Mike” Logue, 67, of Evans, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 4, 1958, Mike dedicated his life to serving others with unwavering loyalty, strength, and a deep sense of duty that inspired all who knew him.

Mike proudly served Richmond County for 41 years, retiring in 2023 after a remarkable tenure marked by professionalism, integrity, and compassion for his community. Whether on patrol or working special duty assignments across Augusta, Mike embodied the very best of law enforcement: dedication, humility, and heart.

Beyond the badge, Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Logue; his children Jennifer Logue, Kimberly Cabrera (Jesse), Cayley Allen (Michael), Taylor Logue (Will), and Justin Logue; his brother Courtney Logue (Kathy); and his grandchildren Kaylin Brassell, Aubrie, Brooklyn, and Weston Allen, with baby Sutton soon to join the family he cherished so deeply. He also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews, and countless others he proudly claimed as “his kids” through his years at the Sheriff’s Office.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John “Chuck” and Elizabeth Logue, and his sister, Stephanie Logue.

Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, his unwavering loyalty, and his enormous heart. He was a mentor and father figure to many, and a lifelong dog lover who found joy and comfort in the presence of his canine companions. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, though he’d probably crack a joke about it first. Known for his humor, integrity, and deep sense of community, Mike had a gift for making people laugh even in the toughest of moments. He lived fully, loved fiercely, and left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Georgia Hospice Care, especially nurses Montana and Rita, for their exceptional compassion and care during Mike’s final days.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, October 28, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907.

Pallbearers will be Courtland Harris, Randall Amos, Foozan Monga, Shaun Nguyen, Bill Adams, and Chris Brown. Honorary Pallbearers include members of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Police Benevolence Association (PBA) in honor of Sergeant Logue’s life of service.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” - Matthew 5:9
