Sharon Kay Davis

Sharon “Sheri” Kay (Blenis) Davis, wife of Ron Davis passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025 after an 8-year journey with Parkinson’s disease. Up until the end, Sharon maintained her grace, compassion, love of family and friends, and expressed deep gratitude for a long life, full of service to the community and wonderful experiences. In her almost 83 years with us she experienced an abundance of family, friends, service, food, and crafts.

Sharon spent her early years as the daughter of a servicemember moving all over the country and Europe while her father practiced medicine in the Army. As the oldest of three and survived by her sister Wendy (Blenis) Eakes, she quickly learned to adapt and thrive in new environments while also helping her siblings through frequent moves. Sharon knew she wanted to someday raise a family of her own. After meeting Ron Davis at church in Alexandria, Virginia, Sharon (and Ron) knew she met the only person with whom she would spend the rest of her life building a strong caring family. Married almost a year later in December 1961, Sharon and Ron maintained a loving and supportive marriage for almost 64 years. Together they raised three children, Brenda (Davis) Tilley, Brian Davis and Brad Davis, regularly engaged with their large extended family, and eventually welcomed Brenda and Brad’s spouses, Allen Tilley and Nikki Lagouros into their family. Through this time, Sharon excelled in creating a welcoming and gracious home which was comfortable for her growing family. The crowning glory for Sharon was the arrival of grandchildren and a great grandchild: Christopher Tilley (and wife Amanda Tilley), Brianna Davis, Tanner Davis, Dorian Davis, Layne Davis, and Elliott Tilley. Sharon delighted in everything about her role as a grandmother and made it a point to be engaged. From babysitting to sewing and knitting for them, Sharon delighted in her grandchildren as much, if not more, than she delighted in raising her own kids.

Sharon cherished her friendships, developing them at each stage of her life. At the time of her passing, Sharon still had friendships she developed in Virginia while in high school. In neighborhoods where she lived to her associations with ministries in the family church, Sharon’s friendships encompassed all aspects of her life, each being very special. From phone chats to joint family outings, to sharing meals and entertaining, to class reunions, to adventures near and far, to helping in times of sadness and difficulty, Sharon was up for it all. Sharon’s unwavering faith guided her approach to motherhood and also inspired her to serve. Not only did Sharon instill her strong values and religious beliefs in her family, but she led by example. For over 45 years, Sharon volunteered for countless events and organizations within Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Augusta, Georgia. From chaperoning trips for the youth ministries, to singing in the choir, and serving in the H.E.L.P ministries which was designed to provide assistance to local homeless and those families in crisis, Sharon dedicated her life to providing guidance and comfort where it was needed. Her career was devoted to supporting the education of our youth. For over 20 years as an employee of the Richmond County School System, Sharon was assigned various administrative and teaching assistant positions throughout the school district. Her final and proudest accomplishment before retirement from the school system was her management and efforts in modernizing the Westside High School library and media center.

Sharon’s hands were rarely still. When she wasn't filling the home with the comforting aroma of freshly baked cookies, pies or cakes, she could be found at her crafting table, bringing beauty into the world through her knitting, quilting and crocheting. Each treat was baked with love, and every crafted item was a testament to her artistic soul and a cherished gift to her family and friends. Sharon found joy in these simple pleasures, teaching her children and grandchildren the value of patience, creativity, and the joy of sharing something handmade.

Sharon appreciated all that life gave. Even in a diminished state near the end of life, Sharon became a favorite of the caregiving staff with her accommodating spirit. Until she lost the ability to talk, Sharon would often express how grateful she was to have lived a long life full of wonderful experiences as well as a loving family, good friends and compassionate care givers. She truly embodied the adage of a life well lived.

Sharon's memory will be forever cherished. Her legacy as a mother, friend, servant, and educator will endure, and her nurturing spirit to everyone (including her four legged friends) will continue to inspire us all. In our hearts, she lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on the community.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the CSRA Parkinson Support Group or the Saint Mark Methodist Church in Augusta, causes close to Sharon’s heart.
