Sondra Weaver Gillespie

Dawsonville, GA – Sondra Weaver Gillespie, wife of the late Rev. Robert C. Gillespie, mother of John and Adam Gillespie, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Sondra was a native of Michigan but had spent much of her adult life in Georgia. She was a faithful and devoted spouse while her husband served in several churches within the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. In addition, Sondra worked for many years as an educator before retiring from the Columbia County School System. Most of all, Sondra will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Sondra is survived by sons: John and Adam; and grandchildren: Madison Gillespie, Chanel Brown, and Latasha Cannon. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by daughter: Carol Gillespie and siblings: John Weaver, Ralph Weaver, Jr., James Weaver, and Margaret W. Hyde.

A celebration of Sondra’s life will be held Monday, February 9, 2026, at 12:00P.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
