Susan H. Beckham

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Mrs. Susan Hooper Beckham, 82, loving wife of the late Robert “Bob” Culp Beckham. 

Susan was a native of Nashua, NH and enjoyed the nature and lakes of the Northeast. She moved to Darien, CT and graduated from Darien High School. After high school, she attended the Vesper George School of Art in Boston, MA. Susan has resided in the Augusta area since 1965. In 1988, Susan was the first female named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Augusta West Rotary Club. Susan loved the arts and shared that passion with others. She traveled to New York, Charleston, and Boston with friends and family to pursue that passion. Susan was an active member of the Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, serving in leadership on the nominations committee and participating in multiple other church groups. She had a deep faith and followed Jesus’ teaching daily.

Susan never missed a special occasion. Her friends and family would anticipate the arrival of a special card, or message. And if you were really lucky, you might receive a special batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies. She was a loving and dedicated mother to her two sons. 

Susan is survived by her sons: Paul Beckham and wife, Lisa, and William “Bill” Beckham and wife, Kristen; grandchildren: Robert, Charlie and Lanier Beckham, Markie Beckham Rooyakkers and husband, Steven, Carter, Dalton Beckham and wife Megan, and Kallie Beckham; her brother Bradford Hooper, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to count.

The visitation and memorial service will be Monday, February 26, 2024, at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church in Evans, Georgia with Pastor Brad Wills officiating. The visitation will be at the church beginning at 12:30 PM with the memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM. A private burial will take place at a later date.
