Susan Vann McBride, 39, of Augusta, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in her husbands arms surrounded by family.
Susan was born on April 9, 1987, in Augusta, GA, to Thomas and Terri Vann. She grew up on her family’s pecan orchard in Augusta, where she spent countless joyful days alongside her big sister, brother, cousins, and grandparents.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Patrick McBride; her daughters, Ava James and Annie Patrick ; her beloved parents, Thomas and Terri Vann; her sister, Karissa Rodriguez (Jeremy); and her brother, Justin Vann. She is also survived by her mother in law Harriett McBride, brothers- and sisters-in-law: Sarah Wilby (Mark), Meg Starzec (Douglas), Dennis McBride Jr. (Susie), Colleen Hall, Joseph McBride (Angela), Bett Anne McBride, Peter McBride (Mia), Dale McBride, and Mark McBride (Rachel) and Atlas McBride. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Jazzy, as she was affectionately called, carried light, warmth, kindness, and strength wherever she went. She was deeply loved by many—family, friends, and those who were like family, closer than friends. She had a natural gift for making others feel welcome, whether through her contagious laughter or her caring spirit. Her greatest dedication was to her family—her husband, precious daughters. She lived life each day, exuding joy, and made a lasting impact on everyone who crossed her path.
Susan graduated from Augusta State University as an RN and found her calling working in home health care. She served an Executive for Compassus.
She was a woman of deep faith who gave her life to Jesus and was a proud member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. She found peace in the promise of the resurrection of the dead and the life everlasting.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 28, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
“And when I must lead you on a path different from the one you see, I will prepare you; I will carry you in My arms; I will let you find yourself, like children who have fallen asleep in their mothers’ arms, on the other bank of the river. What troubles you and hurts you immensely are your reason, your thoughts and worry, and your desire at all costs to deal with what afflicts you.
O Jesus, I surrender myself to You, take care of everything!”
— Surrender Novena Prayer, Day 5
Her favorite saying was
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. So enjoy the present.”
We love you, JAZZY
