Tom DeChant

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, April 3, 2025, Thomas Richard DeChant, 68.

Tom was born in Chicago Heights, IL. He served in the United States Army. He was a well-known transmission mechanic in the area, and one of the best in Augusta. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather in every sense. He loved to play guitar and had an excellent sense of humor.

Family members include his sons: Thomas DeChant (Letitia), Frank Kruse and Gunter Neubach; daughter: Georgia Wiseman; grandchildren: Doriana, Selena, Lisa, Braden, Gabrielle, Bryson, Bradon, Krislyn, Kayleigh, Leanna and C.J.; great-grandson: Truitt; and siblings: Rick, Jo, Char, Teri and Rose. He is preceded in death by his parents: Richard DeChant and Isabelle Williquette and son: Christopher Wiseman.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Rev. Jerry Pittman officiating.
