North Augusta, SC – Entered into rest on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Thuy “Sandy” Huong Tran, 65.
A gifted artist, poet, storyteller and pianist, Sandy lived a life shaped by creativity, language, and culture. Fluent in English, French, and Russian, she shared her love of language as an English teacher before later becoming a devoted small business owner for many years.
In retirement, Sandy returned fully to her artistic passions as an award-winning poet and author whose works appeared in Viet Bao Foundation (Viet Magazine), Van Chuong Viet (Viet Literature) and other publications. She was honored twice with the “Writing on America” award.
Beyond her accomplishments, Sandy was known for her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit. She had a heart of gold that drew people to her effortlessly, and many were blessed to share friendships with her that spanned decades.
Sandy will be remembered for her creativity, intelligence, and the love she gave so freely to others. Her words and spirit leave behind a lasting legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family members include her daughters: Jessie Nguyen (and partner Ryan Ly) and Dan Nguyen; father: Hai Tran, siblings: Thanh Thuy Thi Tran, Nghiep Hung Tran, Nghiep Tran, Thuy Bich Tran, Nghiep Kien Tran, Nghiep Trong Tran; and grand-dogs: Arizona and Pom Pom. She was preceded in death by her mother Kim Chi Thi Nguyen.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 4:00 at Grace Fellowship with Pastor Brian Fields officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 P.M. at Grace Fellowship of Augusta, 1725 Sibley Rd, Augusta, GA 30909.
