It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved Wendy, who peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2025, in Augusta, GA. Wendy was a kind and loving soul who touched the lives of everyone she knew.

Wendy dedicated 34 wonderful years to serving with the Department of Family and Children Services, where she made a lasting impact on many lives. She was a caring, compassionate woman who loved her family fiercely. Her warm spirit and loving nature shone brightly in everything she did.

Wendy had a green thumb and loved working in her yard. She found joy in tending to her plants, planting flowers, and trimming her garden. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially in her yard, where she brought beauty to her surroundings and peace to her heart.

Wendy’s passions extended beyond her work and family. She loved traveling to her sister’s home in the mountains, where she found peace and joy. Her kindness, humor, and genuine heart will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

She loved her Lord and her family deeply—her husband of 54 years: Michael Pope; her daughter: Meredith Bailey; her mother: Kathryn Whisenhunt: her father Harold Rhodes (deceased), her sisters: Vickie Champion (Steve), Pam Cowles (Bobby), and Diane Rhoden; as well as her brothers: Fred Whisenhunt (Chris) and Jimmy Rhodes, her sister-in-law: Susan Clayton (Bill); her grandchildren: Daniel and Melaine; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Warren Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Dave Dillard officiating and Rev. Sonny Jones assisting. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Women’s Center, Warren Baptist Church, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
