Wenona Eberhardt Knight

Wenona Eberhardt Knight, of Grovetown, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 3, 2023 at home surrounded by her family.

Wenona was a devoted wife to Robert A. Knight for 25 years until the Lord called him home in 1988. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. She was a blessing to all those that knew her. She had a smile that would light up a room, the sweetest spirit and she loved The Lord with all her heart. She truly lived out her favorite scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6.

One of Wenona’s greatest accomplishments was being able to attend Montreat College, in Montreat NC, for one year. She worked hard during high school to save the money to put herself through that college for one year. One year she never forgot. After the one year there she attended a program offered at the Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC for x-ray technicians. Here is where she found her calling, met her future husband of 25 years and began her medical career that lasted over 45 years. She absolutely loved her career as an x-ray technician and her patients loved her. Her last 10 years were worked at Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville and she would have patients personally request her.

Wenona’s love for the Lord began at an early age. As a young girl, she would walk to church every Sunday by herself or with her younger sister. Here she experienced the love of Christ through a sweet mother and daughter who would let her sit with them every Sunday and a wonderful Sunday school teacher who poured the Word of God into her. Wenona was a member of West Acres Baptist Church for the past 33 years. Through those years she faithfully served the Lord in the greeter ministry as she headed it up for years, in the nursery, in the homebound ministry and as a member of Golden Tones.

Wenona is survived by her daughters Juliann K. Spires (Doug) and Robyn K. Flanigan (Greg); 5 grandchildren, April Lariscy (Clayton), Haley Spires, Cole Flanigan (Hannah), Morgan Maddix (Hunter) and Blair Flanigan; two great-grandchildren, Ruthie Anne Flanigan and Parker Lariscy; one sister, Rita Fail (Bobby); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wenona is preceded in death by her mother and father, Annie Ruth and Henry Eberhardt and her husband, Robert A. Knight.

The family would like to thank Southeast Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Wenona for the past 4 ½ years.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 pm in the sanctuary at West Acres Baptist Church. A celebration of Wenona’s life will be held at West Aces Baptist church on Friday, July 7th at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of West Acres Baptist with Pastor Larry Harmon officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 P.M. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.

Pallbearers will be Cole Flanigan, Toby Singletary, Marion Singletary, Clayton Lariscy, Hunter Maddix, Larry Joyner Jr. and Logan Joyner.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West Acres Baptist LOFJ mission fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
