William "Bill" Benson

Augusta, GA – William "Bill" Benson, Sr., 79, of Augusta, GA, entered into eternal life with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born December 24, 1946, to Charles Joseph Benson, Sr. and Annie Mae Hutto Benson, Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone he met. Bill was an army veteran, who served in Vietnam. He spent 20 plus years as a Children's evangelist and pastor before spending 30 years as a home inspector. Bill was known for his creativity, quick wit and willingness to help anyone. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Joy Hallman Benson; his children, Peggy Christina (Chris) Frost, William "Bill" (Cynthia) Benson, Jr., and Kenneth James (Ellie) Benson and his 17 grandchildren: Adam, Andrew, Cory, Shelby, Blake, Elijah, Zachary, Natasha, Caleb, Joel, Garic, Lexandra, Lani, Emma, Alice, Sabatian, and Oliver. 

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, 11am at The Sanctuary of Augusta, 4584 Cox Rd, Evans, GA 30809. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10am. 

The family requests expression of celebration in your fond memories, no flowers or donations are requested.
