Make a friend, be a friend, bring a friend to Christ.
William Francis “Bill” Drennan- devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, and loving friend to many- was born into his eternal life on January 26th, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia.
Bill was born on August 6th, 1958, the first of six children born to Bill (Sr.) and Helen Drennan, who raised their family in Wadsworth, Illinois. Bill met the love of his life, Ann Cosgrove Drennan, in Kansas City, Missouri. They later moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where they raised their children and built a life rooted in faith, service, and family. While living in Memphis, Bill was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church and served faithfully in numerous ministries, including Room in the Inn, Fishers of Men, Men’s Morning of Spirituality, the Alpha Program, and the Cursillo Movement. He also served on the Parish Council and as both a lector and Eucharistic minister.
Two years ago, Bill and Ann moved to the Augusta area to be closer to family. There, Bill became a parishioner of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and quickly surrounded himself with dear friends and neighbors. He especially valued his men’s group, serving the homeless and the Dinner for Eight ministry. For many years, Bill worked as a financial planner and was an avid golfer, although many would agree that, despite decades of playing, his game never actually improved. Bill loved his Catholic faith deeply, cherished time with his family, loved being Grandpa and was an avid Notre Dame football fan. Bill was passionate about making disciples. He lived his life in joyful service to God and others, trusting in the promise of eternal life, and in his final act of earthly service, gave the gift of life through organ donation.
Bill is survived by his wife of nearly forty years, Ann (Cosgrove) Drennan; daughter Maggie (Eric) Barrowclough and their children Amelia, Henry, Peter, and Josephine; son Charlie (Ellie) Drennan and their children Mary Helen and James; and son Michael (Debra) Drennan, expecting a child in March; He is also survived by his beloved mother, Helen Drennan; his siblings Eileen (Jeff) Kregor; John (Cheryl) Drennan; Terry (Anne) Drennan; Pat (Marilyn) Drennan, and Peggy (Michael) Meagher; the entire Cosgrove family, whom Bill loved as his own; and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews spanning many generations. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Drennan, Sr. Bill’s greatest blessing and proudest joy was his family.
