William Breckenridge "Breck" Brigham

Mr. William Breckenridge “Breck” Brigham, 89, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, after a brief period of illness during which he was surrounded by his loving family.

Breck was born in Augusta, Georgia, on April 25, 1936, to the late William Roscoe Brigham and Elizabeth Philips Brigham. He attended Richmond County public schools and graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1954. Breck attended his freshman year of college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before transferring to the University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1958, graduating with honors. At UGA, Breck was a member of the Chi Phi social fraternity and the Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. He was a loyal Georgia Bulldog fan notwithstanding his brief stint as a Tarheel.

After graduating from UGA and completing his service to the United States Army, Breck returned to Augusta and embarked upon a banking career with the Citizens & Southern “C&S” Bank where he worked for over thirty years before retiring in 1990 as a Senior Vice President. As a banker, he obtained certificates in banking and management from the American Institute of Banking, Georgia State University, and the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University. Over the course of his career at C&S, Breck earned a reputation for his integrity, business acumen, and commitment to helping others.

Breck had the good fortune to meet Patricia “Trisha” Weathers through her sister and Breck’s good friend, Celeste Weathers. Breck and Trisha fell in love, were married in 1966, and had three sons, William Breckenridge “Breck” Brigham, Jr., Evan Philips “Phil” Brigham, and Leroy “Lee” Weathers Brigham. Breck and Trisha lived happily together for fifty-five years until Trisha’s death in 2021. Breck was subsequently blessed to marry Judy Hooks, an old friend and colleague from his days at C&S. They were married in 2022 and lived happily together until Breck’s death.

Breck began to develop commercial real estate in the early 1970’s when he developed a shopping center in North Augusta, SC, on land that had once been his family’s farm. After he retired from the bank, Breck chose to focus exclusively on commercial real estate development, developing, operating, and/or managing retail, single family, and multifamily properties.

Breck was a faithful servant to his church and community. He was a cradle to grave member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church and served the church in many capacities, including deacon, elder, and Clerk of the Session. He also served the greater Augusta community in various roles, including serving as the President of the Uptown Kiwanis Club and the Augusta YMCA and serving on the Board that established the Augusta Country Day School.

In his free time, Breck enjoyed traveling, playing tennis and golf, and spending time with friends and family at the lake and in the mountains of North Carolina. He was also passionate about many things, including dogs (above all his naughty but faithful golden lab Trucker); cars (particularly fancy ones with lots of bells and whistles even if he did not always use them); and eating three square meals a day and, when possible, dessert (especially anything topped with cool whip).

Breck is survived by his wife Judy and her daughter Carol K. Glass; his sons, Breck, Phil, and Lee, and their wives, Carrie Jobson Brigham, Alison Sewell Brigham, and Jennifer Tucker Brigham; and his grandchildren, Margaret “Palmer” Brigham, William Breckenridge “Breck” Brigham III, William “Will” Philips Brigham, “Wynne” Elizabeth Brigham, Clarice “Clare” Amanda Brigham, and Elizabeth “Tucker” Brigham. He is predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Trisha, and many dogs, including his faithful lab, Trucker.

Known for his generosity, integrity, and kindness, Breck will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Reid Memorial with Dr. Brandi Casto-Waters and Rev. Boyd Lien officiating. The family will receive friends in the church’s fellowship hall immediately prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2261 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904.
