William Carl Groves

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, May 23, 2025, LTC William C. “Bill” Groves, U.S. Army (Ret.), 84, loving husband of Judy Whitworth Groves.

Bill faithfully served his country with distinction for over 20 years. A dedicated officer in the Transportation Corps, he held key assignments across Europe, at home, and during two combat tours in Vietnam, where he commanded both the HHC, 69th Signal Battalion and the 62nd Transportation Company. His decorated service earned him the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Honor Medal (First Class), among others.

A native of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, Bill was commissioned through ROTC after earning a degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to complete a master’s degree in management from Webster University and graduated from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth.

After retiring from the Army, Bill began a second career in real estate, where he quickly established himself as a respected leader and advocate for military families. He worked with both Meybohm and Trotter real estate companies in Augusta. His commitment to excellence earned him numerous accolades, including life membership in the Million Dollar Club and the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation.

Above all, Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Married to his beloved wife for nearly sixty years, he cherished his family and leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and deep love. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his son: Bill Groves (Amy); daughter: Amy Rooks (Jason); and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Galuschak; sister, Rose Ann Mack; and brother, Michael Groves.

A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
