Yong Hui (Kim) Santos

Yong Hui (Kim) Santos, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her home on June 6, 2026.

She lived a full life defined by hard work and devotion to her family. She was born in Kangwon-do, Korea (now part of North Korea) under Japanese occupation and survived the tremendous hardships as a teenager during the Korean War. She married her husband in 1968 and immigrated to the United States in 1969.

After living on different military bases in the United States and Germany, she eventually settled in Augusta, GA in 1975 and has resided here ever since. She loved cooking delicious food for her family and fully embraced the “farm to table concept” with the extensive and varied garden she tended every year until she was 89.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years: SGM (Retired) Tomas Santos; daughter: Dr./Colonel (Retired) Chae-Im (Ronald) Pontius; granddaughter: Dr. Lauren (Warren) Floyd; and her great-grandson: Liam Floyd. Lauren and Liam were the greatest joys in her long life.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 12 Noon until the time of the Funeral Mass at 1:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Chris Hassel celebrant. A private burial will be in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
