Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, George Lewis Godman, 84, loving husband of 46 years to Judy Partridge Godman.


George was born August 30,1939 in Branchville, South Carolina to Freddie and Vera Godman. He was a graduate of Richmond Academy. George was a registered land surveyor in Georgia and South Carolina since 1975, was the owner and operator of George L. Godman & Associates. He loved being a surveyor and worked until the age of 81. George retired due to declining health. He hoped he would be remembered for the good work he had done.


Family members in addition to his wife include his daughter: Betty Fordham (Chuck); stepdaughter: Sharon Martin Jones (Murray); stepson: Richard “Ricky” Allen Martin; grandchildren: Martin Jones (Ashley), Madison Jones, Tyler Martin and Ashley Martin, Jentry Reed, and two great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his daughter Vanessa Reed and his parents.


A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Stephen Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or the American Heart Association, 516 West Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841.
