Lianne Bland Price

1932-2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of Lianne Bland Price announce her peaceful passing on March 1, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

Lianne was born May 6, 1932, to Sim and Leola Bland in Lyons, GA. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1949 and went on to attend Meredith Collage in Raleigh, NC. Later she moved to Augusta, GA where she attended Augusta Business School. After graduation she began working at E.I. Dupont where she met her future husband, Walter.

After the birth of their first child, she decided to dedicate her life to being a homemaker and wonderful mother. Not only did she excel at motherhood, but she was also a master gardener, natural born artist, amazing seamstress, and fabulous cook. Her love of genealogy sent her to libraries, courthouses, cemeteries and the computer. She researched the lineage of her family and friends’ families for hours on end. History was her passion, and you could often find her reading a historical novel or watching period pieces on television. She and Walter were able to travel the world with their many friends, visiting several historical locations.

Lianne was known for her sharp wit and insightful advice. She was a surrogate mother to many children and her home was always open to all friends and family. The Price pool parties were legendary. You could always count on good food, entertaining company and long-lasting memories.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Walter Price. She is survived by her children Tina Price Harn (Robert), Phyllis Price Elrod (Danny) and John Walter Price, Jr. She is also survived by her grandchildren Emily Harn Azar (Travis), John Robert Harn, Hayley Price Elrod and Autumn Ashley Price and great grandchildren Price Robert Azar and Hadden Michael Azar as well as her brother Joseph C. Grimm (Glenda).

Lianne was dedicated to God and her faith. She was a lifelong member of Burns Memorial Methodist Church and a member of the Latane Kirkley circle.

A memorial service to honor Lianne’s life will take place Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Autism Speaks or The Golden Harvest Food Bank.
