Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hubert Burden, her parents Roy & Carrie Allgood, six siblings, and a few nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her three children, Carolyn Rodgers (Bob); Donnie Burden (Kathy); and Jodie Burden Hess (Dennis), chosen son William Dixon, grandchildren Bobby Rodgers (Julia); Amy Burden Irwin; Christopher Patterson (Julie); and Brittany Patterson, great grandchildren Ella Rodgers and Caroline Irwin, and many loved nieces and nephews.
She was born in Elberton, Ga and lived in Washington, Ga, later settling in Richmond Co. where she and Hubert lived in Augusta and then Hephzibah. She was blessed with beautiful neighbors for over 50 years who were and are like family to all of us. She dearly loved her community, and we know she was indeed loved by so many.
Happiest when digging in the dirt or feeding you, Nancy shared her flowers and love for gardening with everyone. The “flower lady” touched the hearts of all that met her. You never saw her without a smile. She was everyone's friend, mother, and grandmother, and none left her presence without a full belly, flowers, advice, a smile, and more. She delighted in knowing that she meant so much to so many.
Nancy was in various Garden Clubs over many years and enjoyed her time with the Rose Society. She loved growing tea roses, vegetables, blueberries, and more. They were called the "Green Acres" bunch after moving out of the city, and she loved every minute of it. Nancy and Hubert relished their "country" life as she called it, and grandchildren were about the only thing that could take them away from home.
Nancy lived to enjoy her grandchildren and reveled in her role as a “what happens at grandma’s stays at grandma’s” kind of grandmother. She was the sit in the floor, get in the playhouse, ride on the back of a mini bike kind of grandma. She proudly gained another title of great-grandmother and continued to epitomize kindness and love, with a sweet smile and eyes that lit up to see them all. Her legacy of giving love will live on in everyone that knew her.
